Classes at Firefly

Want to spice up your kitchen and kick-start your health? Join us in fermentation!

Fermented food is so good for us! We love to share the knowledge and possibilities with you. That’s why we started this business and that is why we are expanding the types of classes we offer.

We love to ferment and experiment with our krauts and brines! We’ve always got a project on the go in the Firefly kitchen or in our own kitchens at home.

We’re offering four different classes in 2016: "Fermentation 101", "Fermentation 201", "Fresh & Fermented: using ferments in everyday meals", and "Divine Brine."

All classes will be held at Firefly Kitchens (844 NW 49th Street) and are approximately 2 hours. Class sizes are kept small. We offer tastings of our products and each participant can choose one bottle of Probionic Tonic to take home.

We will provide the supplies, but feel free to bring your own glass quart jars to our Fermentation 101 (to allow for more homemade kraut to take home).

Please arrive a few minutes to early to settle in and get ready to ferment!

Check out the upcoming class schedules here.

Would you like to book a private/group class? Let us know! Email us at info@fireflykitchens.com

A.J. Rathbun mixes "Fires at Dawn"

Do you wonder what to do with that left over brine? Well, as you know, we’ve always encouraged you to do brine shots for that krautelicious power-boost of probiotic goodness (see our FAQ) but we know it’s hard to wait ’til the bottom of the jar so we're bottling up these powerful-good probiotic tonics and peddling them around town.  But still you ask: "Surly there must be more I can do with these tonics than shoot them in order to get bowelence into my life?”

Well, in order to start seeding your creative process we've asked some Firefly Kitchen friends to experiment and share their stories, ideas and “yeah, that didn’t turn out quite the way I thought…” experiments with our gang.

Meet A. J Rathbun.  He's a mixologist extraordinaire who knows few limits when it comes to trying unique and truly inspired combinations to blend seriously delicious drinks.  We sent him some samples of our tonics to see what he’d create with them and we weren't disappointed!  See his post of October 9th 2015 to discover his creation based on our Emerald City Kraut tonic, “Fires at Dawn”.

Cheers A.J., bottoms up!
